Using Emoji or Emoticons is easy. Learn how.

Have you ever used emoticons when writing messages from your iPad or phone or maybe your computer? I'm sure most of us have. They are really cool, they look nice, they add a lot to your message. Now, one thing that is really handy to use on the iPad is emoticons. A lot of people are under the impression that they don't exist because they don't appear anywhere when you are writing. Today, in this article I am going to teach you how to activate emoticons or emoji as they are known on the iPad.

Okay, With your iPad in front of you (the process is exactly the same on the iPhone or iPod) touch "Settings". Under settings we touch "General". Scroll right down to the bottom and you will see "Keyboard". Touch that. Next you must select "International keyboards" and then you just simply touch "Add new keyboard". As you look through the list you will see English at the top, then as you scroll down you will see Bulgarian, Chinese, Croation, Dutch and then next in alphabetical order is "Emoji". That's the one you want. By selecting that it means it will be available on your keyboard. Press the home key now and we are ready to test out our new Emoji/Emoticon keyboard.

Open "Messages" or indeed any App that uses the keyboard. You can use "Safari" or "Pages" or "Mail", for the sake of this example we will use the "Messages" App. Tap inside the write a message box and your keyboard will appear. You will notice that next to the space bar is a globe or world symbol. Touch this symbol and your keyboard will change and alternate between the different keyboards that you set up. I have got mine set up for English and Emoji. My keyboard has now gone straight to Emoji. If yours hasn't, then simply touch the globe symbol again until you get to Emoji. You will know that you are there when you see a whole lot of symbols that you can select. There are different categories along the bottom and as you touch the pictures, they will appear as part of your text. When you want to add words, you simply touch the globe symbol again and your keyboard will then return to English or the language that you want to write in.

Thanks for reading, we hope you got a lot out of this article.

Enjoy your iPad.
